The pair brace for confrontation but discover Pinki and Brud, fellow refugees from the encroaching darkness. Pinki shows signs of semi-corruption but remains functional, while Brud explains their situation before suggesting the group rest—a proposal met with weary agreement.
Behind the scenes, deeper character dynamics emerge: Brud, despite his suggestion, maintains vigil through the night, keeping the fire alive out of responsibility for Pinki's condition. Tunner carries guilt from his failed attempt to rescue Simon, knocked unconscious by Gray and forced to abandon his closest friend—a bond largely celebrated by the fandom. Throughout the ordeal, Raddy maintains remarkable composure, his stoic expression unwavering despite the danger.
